Cinque Ports Street, Rye, East Sussex

Winner: RIBA South East Regional Award 2016.

A former industrial site that included the remains of Rye’s medieval town wall (a Scheduled Ancient Monument). The scheme is predominantly for residential use but includes two retail units. The residential sections include six flats, two penthouses, one studio unit and a detached house. The contemporary design references the vernacular of the harbour-front buildings used to dry fishing nets with steep, pitched roofs with dark Kebony cladding. Contemporary detailing includes hidden window frames, expansive glass openings and hidden guttering and piping.
